Through the years I’ve made genuine friendships and meaningful business relationships. Helping small business owners develop and grow their Website is fun and rewarding for me. If you are looking for someone to help you with yours, I’d love the opportunity to talk about your project. I’d love to earn your trust and deliver a product that we can both be proud of.

The charge for designing and developing a website can only be determined on a case by case basis as it depends on all sorts of variables. I will be happy to give you an exact cost as soon as I know the specifics for your project.

If you’re one of those folks that just has to have a ballpark figure, this is for you: You’re probably looking at about $1500 for a standard website or blog design. If it’s complicated it’s going to go up. If you are complicated it’s going to go up. If your site is for a Ministry it’s going to go down. If your site is for a Christian crisis pregnancy center it’s going to be next to nuthin’. Contact me for a quote.

I do give discounts for people, ministries, and organizations that are special to me. Just get in touch and we’ll talk.

If you are requesting a quote for a website, please give me as much information about your needs and desires so that I may provide an accurate quote. If you aren’t sure what you need, let me know and we’ll talk first.

While it IS my job to please you, you first have the responsibility to communicate to me what you want. Through conversation, I can help you determine what you NEED. Sometimes, wants and needs are similar but sometimes they differ. We’ll want to nail down the full scope of your project so that I may develop an accurate proposal. “Scope Creep” is real – and it’s no fun, for either of us.

While it IS my job to please you and while the design of your site should/MUST accurately reflect YOUR business, it also MUST be a design that I can be proud of – that I am willing to put in my portfolio. If you’ve read this far, you’ve likely looked at my portfolio. If my style doesn’t blend with yours, then we might not be a good fit. I can log over 24 hours into the average site so I want the work to be fun!

While it IS my job to please you, with nearly 20 years of experience in web design, I have gained knowledge and expertise. I know stuff about design – about white space, and fonts, and layout, and usability, and function, and movement. I am willing to share that knowledge – to educate you on current trends and standards – and even to teach you what you need to know to manage your own site. I often have multiple ideas for how to accomplish a task. And, while I’m not always right, I am unwilling to compromise on certain elements, especially if they create a site that is not user friendly. Hire me for my expertise, then let me use it!

While it IS my job to please you, sometimes I can’t. Sometimes it isn’t cost effective to reinvent the wheel or to obsess over minutia. As an example, “responsive design” means that a site will function across multiple browsers – from a wide screen monitor to a cell phone (and everything in between and even turned sideways). It ain’t easy to cover all those bases. It might mean that you have more space around the edges than you’d like when you are looking at a site on your wide screen but it’ll look perfect on a laptop. The point is, don’t sweat the small stuff.

While it IS my job to please you, there are a few ways that you can help me deliver the website you want. Communication is key so I’ll start by letting you know what I need from you:

  • Swift responses. I don’t expect you to answer the email that I’ll send at 1am within 15 minutes – by 9am will do ;).
  • Feedback. I’ll ask for it. Be honest. Don’t be vague. You won’t hurt my feelings.
  • Content. Get it to me. All of it. Before we start – or as soon as we decide we need it. Nothing is more frustrating than a nag. I won’t nag you. I just won’t – can’t – get the job done with out the content (images, logos, text, ect.).
  • Strike while the iron is hot. Not much is more fun to me than starting a new web design project.  When I get started, I’ll work for HOURS on end to accomplish the task. Don’t let the fun wear off before we’re finished.
  • Don’t delay. I’m over 50 now and I forget stuff… Ecommerce/Shopping cart sites are especially complicated. There are lots of decisions to be made and then to set up. Every. Site. Is. Different. If we get started on a site and then there is a delay of weeks or months, it’s like starting over. Nobody likes to redo stuff.
  • Don’t be like < this >. No really, there are a few take home messages in there…
    • Single point of contact. I will only communicate with one person – not a committee. That person needs to know what is desired before they tell to me to make a change so we aren’t going back and forth redoing nit picky – and not so nit picky – tasks.
    • I encourage you to get the opinion of others, but give their opinions consideration based on their level of expertise.
    • I encourage you to have someone that you know to NOT be tech savvy to look at the site. I’m oft amazed at what I decide to change based on their lack of understanding of how something functions.
    • It has been said to build for the “lowest common denominator” BUT it’s more effective to build for your audience. This means that you need to know your audience.
