In May 2005 the first phase of the project began when the building was relocated to the original position where it was constructed in 1891, along the former railroad tracks at the intersection of Harris Road and Warm Springs Road facing Georgia Highway 85. Since then the exterior of the building, with its Victorian gingerbread trim, has undergone minor restoration and was repainted in the 1891 color scheme of Ochre yellow and green. A new metal roof was added and the large front porch was renovated, adding a ramp to make the Depot handicapped accessible.
