Work flow for editing all WP websites:
Log into dashboard
If update is available for WordPress itself:
disable all plugins (can be done in bulk),
update WP,
reactivate plugins
Update all plugins, every time there is an update available
No updates needed (or after updating):
turn off caching on the WP Super Cache plugin
make your edits, proof them,
turn caching back on
